SALTY Groups and Chaplaincy Training

Pray. Serve. Awaken the Workplace.

One Workplace, Two Ways to Serve

Prayer at the Heart has partnered with Christians in the Marketplace (CIMP) to offer believers two connected paths for bringing Christ into their workplace. Through SALTY Groups, coworkers gather to pray together and cultivate a spiritually alive workplace culture. Through CIMP Chaplaincy Training, believers are equipped to go further — offering compassionate care, crisis support, and steady Kingdom leadership to those around them.

Together, prayer and presence form a single strategy: SALTY Groups plant the seeds of spiritual awakening at work, and chaplaincy training prepares people to tend what grows. Whether you’re drawn to start a prayer group, pursue chaplaincy training, or both, you’re joining a movement to bring hope, healing, and revival one workplace at a time.

Pray Where You Work

Start or join a small prayer group right at your job — a conference room, an office, or a quiet corner before the workday begins. SALTY Groups are simple, 30-minute gatherings where believers intercede for their workplace and each other, guided by a fresh monthly prayer guide.

Best for: Anyone who wants to bring prayer into their daily workplace, starting small.

Serve Where You’re Needed

Go deeper through CIMP’s 20-hour, 10-week chaplaincy training program. Learn spiritual guidance, peer-to-peer counseling, stress management, and crisis intervention — equipping you to be a minister of presence in hospitals, workplaces, and beyond. This training will enable you to bring the word to many.

Best for: Those called to provide direct compassionate care and crisis support to others.

Why SALTY Groups?

Because:

America desperately needs a great spiritual awakening if Project 2026 is to be a success – it’s our only hope!

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men.” (Mt. 5:13 Holman)

The Scripture commands us to pray everywhere. ( 1 Tim. 2:8, 3-4)

SALTY groups are an expression of the Christian unity that Jesus prayed for (John 17:21 & 23), which will prepare the way for a great awakening.

 CONTACT

  • If you have questions regarding SALTY Groups please contact Dr. Julius Koonce
at julius.koonce@prayerattheheart.orgHave you ever thought about becoming a chaplain, starting a SALTY Group at your workplace, or even doing both?

Christians in the Marketplace (CIMP) has partnered with Prayer at the Heart (PATH) to make both opportunities available. Dr. Billy Graham once said, “I believe the next move of God is going to be among believers in the workplace.” Today, that vision is becoming a reality.

Through Prayer at the Heart’s SALTY Groups, believers can establish Christ-centered prayer and encouragement in their workplaces. Through CIMP Chaplaincy Training, Christians are equipped to provide compassionate care, spiritual support, crisis response, and Kingdom leadership to those they serve.

Together, these two ministries create a powerful strategy for transforming workplace culture. By combining prayer with chaplaincy, we have an unprecedented opportunity to bring hope, healing, unity, and genuine spiritual revival to the marketplace—one workplace at a time.

Chaplaincy Training

Chaplaincy offers a powerful way to minister to people in various settings, such as hospitals, prisons, military units, and community organizations. As a chaplain, you can be a beacon of hope and comfort, providing spiritual and emotional support to individuals facing life’s challenges.

Chaplaincy is a multifaceted ministry that allows you to connect with people from all walks of life, offering them guidance, prayer, and a listening ear. It is a unique opportunity to share the love of Christ in places where traditional church outreach may not reach. By becoming a chaplain, you will be part of a vital bridge between the church and the community, serving as a “minister of presence” who brings comfort and reassurance in times of need.

Our chaplaincy program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to serve effectively in this role. Through comprehensive training—20 hours over a 10-week session—you will learn about spiritual guidance, peer-to-peer counseling, stress management, and crisis intervention. This journey will not only deepen your faith but also empower you to make a meaningful difference in others’ lives.

We invite you to explore our curriculum for a better understanding of the training that will be provided.

“Whenever God determines to do a great work, He first sets His people to pray” (C. Spurgeon). This reliable principle begs the question: “How does God mobilize his people to heartfelt prayer?” Most importantly, how does God move Christian leaders who shepherd His church to unite in fervent, persistent, biblically focused prayer for the fulfillment of His purposes? By two things mainly: 1) distress over the degradation of the church and the surrounding culture and 2) hope that God will pour out His Spirit on his church and fill it with His fulness until it overflows with transformative impact on society. Many believers are distressed at the current state of things. At the same time, there is much reason to hope for God’s divine intervention in response to passionate, biblically guided prayer.

Believers across America now mourn the debility of the church; its vitality is faltering, its impact fading, its mission neglected, and its devotion to God being undercut by love for this world. Right now we are enduring the largest and fastest religious shift in American history. Its scope is greater than every previous spiritual awakening in our history combined, only in the opposite direction. Christians are being confronted by “spiritual forces of evil” (Eph. 6:12) operating from the heavenly realms that boldly infiltrate every aspect of society, even the church. These dark powers aim to 1) frustrate God’s purpose to bless all peoples on earth through Christ with countless benefits, including righteousness, peace, joy, and justice, and 2)
inflict endless varieties of misery on everyone. When spiritual decline and cultural decay prevail, God’s people rise up to seek the Lord in prayer as the fountain of every blessing, asking him to fill the earth with his glory, pour out His Holy Spirit, inspire his church, and deliver people and cultures from innumerable troubles. Now is the time to pray with desperation for spiritual and cultural renewal, for divine intervention, for the fulfillment of God’s purposes for his church and his creation in Northeast Ohio.

Christian leaders, especially pastors, have a heightened responsibility to press into God with prayer for the church. Biblical precedent shows that gathering church leaders together to engage in heartfelt prayer for the welfare of their community often initiates widespread spiritual and social renewal both in church and society (2 Chron. 7:13-14; 15:8-10; 34:29-32). New Testament accounts show that when Christian leaders unite in prayer, often in response to social and/or spiritual crises, spiritual awakening and gospel advance follow (Acts 1:13-14; 2:1-4; 4:23-31; 13:1-3).

Jesus himself instills expectation of an outpouring of God’s Spirit in response to prayer with this promise: “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13). Our Father in heaven is especially ready to pour out upon us the blessing we most need and long for, the very Spirit of God who imparts divine life, wisdom, and virtue.

With all this in mind, now is the time for Christian leaders across Northeast Ohio to come together to seek the Lord with biblically grounded, Christ-directed, wholehearted prayer for a God-given spiritual awakening. The trumpet of God is blaring! He is calling us to pray! Join Christian leaders from across our region to humble ourselves, seek the Lord’s face, and be willing to respond through His intervening grace to any changes He calls us to make! (Psalm 110:3)

The Gathering is an extension of the nationwide PATH (Prayer at the Heart) initiative piloted recently in Northeast Ohio. Put The Gathering on your calendar: Sunday, September 24, 6 pm, Calvary Chapel of Cleveland, 709 Brook Park Road, Brooklyn Heights, OH.
